Minneapolis Bar Accuses City of Discrimination

A longtime Minneapolis bar is going to federal court, claiming it has lost revenue because of the city.

Champions Bar on Lake Street claims it has been discriminated, intimidated, retaliated and conspired against by the city.

The owners say the problems started after they started complaining about criminal activity at the bus stop outside of their establishment.

"The city has cameras throughout the neighborhood but doesn't have cameras at this bus stop. We're concerned Champions is being targeted as opposed to bad doers being targeted," said Ed Matthews, Champions Bar owner.

Champions has had 350 calls for service in the past two years.

The city would not comment on the lawsuit.
