Hastings Man Indicted for Producing Child Porn

A 24-year-old Hastings man was indicted Monday for producing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office says.

Mark Matthew Cortes was charged with one count of production of child pornography.

In October, Dakota County prosecutors charged Cortes in connection to the alleged abuse of his 5-year-old child.

Prosecutors said Cortes abused the child and filmed the abuse, which was later distributed to others.

If convicted on the production of child pornography charge, Cortes faces a maximum of 30 years in federal prison, as well as fines and forfeitures, the U.S. Attorney's Office says.
