INTERVIEW: Dr. Barsanti Sorts Through Mammogram Study

In recent weeks about mammograms, one study questioned the value of mammograms and the other said that the radiation is not dangerous.

KSTP had Entira Family Clinics Dr. John Barsanti in to clear some facts up for those watching or needing to book their next mammogram.

We have difficulties when screening people who don’t have symptoms, and are otherwise healthy, so we tend to see a lot of false positives, Barsanti said.

Barsanti said doctors used to recommend women age 40 and older to get checked every year. However, he said some doctors are shifting more to every other year in the 40s and maybe every year later on.
