Crew Rescues Dog on Partially Frozen Lake in Barnum

A dog was rescued after falling through the ice on Little Hanging Horn Lake in Barnum, Minnesota.

According to the Carlton County Sheriff's Office a 3-year-old, 100 pound German Shepherd/ Golden Retriever mix had broken through the ice more than 150 feet from shore.

Volunteers from the Barnum Fire Department and Carton County deputies responded to the call.

A rescue crew used a boat tethered the shore in the rescue. A responder wearing ice safety gear helped bring the dog into the boat.

The boat was then towed to shore.

The dog appeared to be in good condition, and was returned to its owner.

The sheriff's office is reminding people to use caution and common sense around frozen waters.
