Gov. Scott Walker Lights Up Capitol Christmas Tree

The state Capitol Christmas tree is now lighted and decorated for the holiday season.

Gov. Scott Walker and representatives from Wisconsin tree farms held a tree lighting ceremony on Friday morning to turn on the lights.

The 37-foot balsam fir tree in the Capitol rotunda is decorated with handmade ornaments from school children. A small model train runs around the base of the tree, which came from a Medford farm.

The tree will remain up through New Year's.

Walker cut down a much smaller tree that is in the governor's conference room just a few feet away from the much larger tree in the rotunda.
