Dakota Co. Duck Hunter Accused of Shooting at Another Hunter

A duck hunter in Dakota County was arrested Thursday following a confrontation in which a shot was fired at another hunter, the Dakota County Sheriff's Office says.

Deputies were called to Spring Lake Park Reserve just after 2:30 p.m. on a report of a shot fired at a duck hunter.

The caller told authorities a hunter was confronted by another hunting party as he was placing decoys in the water. Words were exchanged and the argument grew heated. Then, a shotgun was fired at the hunter in the water.

Pellets hit the side of the hunter's boat, but no one was hit.

Sheriff's deputies, State Troopers and DNR Conservation Officers arrested the suspect on an island nearby about an hour later.

After the sheriff's office completes its investigation, the case will be turned over to the county attorney's office.
