Black Friday Shoppers Score Deals at Mall of America

The early birds got the deals at the Mall of America. Black Friday started when the clock struck midnight, over 200 stores opened then, offering door busters that were only good until the break of dawn.

Early this morning, many folks were exhausted from hunting down the deals. This is the second year many stores at the Mall of America opened at midnight.

A spokeswoman at the Mall of America says 30,000 people showed up for the mall's opening at midnight, compared with 20,000 last year.

Some of the door busters expired at 6 in the morning, so they were only good for the night-shoppers. But many other stores offered a second round of door busters later in the morning.

Most people were out and about shopping for the people on their Christmas list.

Some were trying to get good deals on electronics or hot ticket items like pair of vintage Michael Jordan shoes for themselves.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
