Surveyors Scope out Damage at Glensheen Mansion

Surveyors have been using high-tech equipment in creeks near the historic Glensheen mansion this week to figure out just how much damage was caused by last June's flooding in Duluth.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that surveyors from Minneapolis-based Clark Engineering Corp. are collecting 3D scans of Tischer Creek and Bent Brook.

Engineers will use the data collected to determine what needs to be repaired. Actual repairs could begin next spring.

Glensheen's interim director Arden Weaver says officials are concerned about Tischer Creek's bank, because if left untreated, it will erode toward the house.

Weaver doesn't know how much flood repairs will cost. He says estimates keep rising as more damage is discovered.
