Study: Proximity to Bars Influences Drinking Habits

Living steps away from your neighborhood bar may boost your risk of becoming a heavy drinker.

A study out of Finland found 9 percent of people who lived less than 400 feet from a bar or tavern were considered heavy drinkers. The farther away they moved, the less likely they were to drink regularly.

This proved the same when people moved closer to bars or if the bars opened closer to them.
