COLUMN: Aaron's Backstage Pass: Playmates 'Heart For Heart Girls' Doll Review

Christmas is just around the corner and it’s going to be here before we know it.
I have two girls ages five and two and it’s always a challenge to find that right gift for them. I am always looking for new toys and gift ideas that I think they might enjoy.
They both really like dolls and they play with them a lot. There are so many dolls out there and it’s hard to find something different and unique.
I think I may have found the perfect gift for them.
Playmate Toys just released a new line of dolls called “Heart For Heart Girls.” There are eight dolls in the series and each one has their own story and is from a different country. The dolls represent real girls from the U.S.A., Mexico, Ethiopia, India, Belarus, Brazil and Laos.
The dolls come packaged with a little booklet that has some information about each girl. The booklet talks about the girl and her family, her hobbies, and other information about her.
The doll that I received for the review was named “Dell” and she was from the Appalachian Mountains in the U.S.A. Her dad lost his job in a coal mine and her family had to move to a different town. Dell likes music, writes songs, and enjoys helping others.
One great thing about Playmates “Heart For Heart Girls,” is that a portion of the purchase price goes to “World Vision” which is a charity that helps children worldwide. World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization that is dedicated to helping children, families, and communities that are in poverty.
I really think that this was a new and great idea for a line of dolls. I’m not an expert on toys for girls, but I don’t think any other line of toys has come out like this before where some of the money goes to a charity.
The dolls are 14 inches high and come with different accessories. Dell came dressed in a camouflage baseball cap, bracelets, a butterfly necklace, silver flower earrings, a booklet about her, and a comb.
There was also a special bracelet packaged in with the doll that kids can wear. Plus there is a special code that you can put in to register your doll at www.heart4heartgirls.com.
My girls really liked “Dell” and played with her for hours after I opened her. They really had fun playing with her. They liked combing ad styling her hair. The dolls are very life-like and are very detailed.
The dolls are for ages 6 and up and they do come with small pieces that kids could choke on. I thought that it was okay for my five and two year old to play with Dell with my supervision.
I really think that Playmates “Heart for Heart Girls” dolls are a great line. Kids will like them and the dolls are very detailed and have a great story behind them. Plus some of the money goes to a great cause.
