MN Medical Professionals Help in NY

A team of medical professionals from Minnesota is now in New York ready to help.

They're called the MN-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team, which includes medical professionals from across the state. The team is in Queens awaiting their orders.

Their job is to go in to places where the infrastructure for health care has been devastated. The team will set up a tent hospital, just like in Katrina, and will start doing medical care.

They aren't the only Minnesotans helping out.The Twin Cities' Red Cross Chapter sent an emergency response vehicle to the storm zone Wednesday. Volunteers will use it to distribute meals, snacks, and cleanup supplies in hard hit neighborhoods.

Units from Mankato, Rochester and Duluth are already on the road.
