Electric Vehicle Charging Station Installed at Roseville Library

The Ramsey County Library in Roseville has added a public access charging station for drivers of electric vehicles.

The new station is the first of six opening in Ramsey County over the next year. Roseville was chosen because of the high number of visits and because it’s a certified Leadership in Energy and Environment Design Gold Building, according to the county.

To celebrate, the library hosted a “Plug-In” ceremony in the parking lot with local officials and library staff members. Library patron Andy Rodriguez ceremonially plugged in his Chevy Volt for the first official charge.

The other stations will be installed at the Ramsey County Library in Maplewood and at the Union Depot in St. Paul.

The station cost $12,763, which was covered by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
