Ignite All of Your Senses

When you look at art, you often use one sense: vision. However, the Rochester Arts Center is putting on an event that plans to ignite all of the senses.
The Rochester Arts Center’s “ARTBASH 2012” is not a typical art gallery event, it is a full experience.
The annual event has never been done like this before, Rochester Arts Center Marketing Director Nora Anderson said.
“It is the first time for a sit-down dinner, and the first time to have a student from the past programs and a participant from collaborative programs explain how the program has impacted their lives,” Anderson said.
Their event theme, “Innovate, Create, Ignite,” was created since this is the first time they’ve tied some sort of fire element into every event throughout the night.
There will be a candlelit dinner, campfire on the patio, opportunities for guests to make a charcoal masterpiece, an opportunity to float lanterns down the Zumbro River, fire dancing performances and flaming cocktails.
“It really does ignite all your senses,” Anderson said. “Everything is being prepared with fire.”
Along with the food and fun, there are opportunities to purchase art from ten sets of original artwork created by three pairs of Minnesota artists.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., Nov. 3, in the Grand Lobby for galleries, art sales and cocktail hour.
