Email122,000 Troops Trained in FY 2012 at Fort McCoy
Fort McCoy says the number of troops trained at the U.S. Army installation in fiscal year 2012 surpassed 122,000.
The Wisconsin fort, on 60,000 acres between Sparta and Tomah, says about 65,500 troops participated in extended combat training. About 56,500 personnel conducted battle drill training during the year.
Fort McCoy says it has trained more than 100,000 troops annually since 1985.
The Monroe County installation was established in 1909 and has been used primarily as a military training center. The fort is named for Maj. Gen. Robert Bruce McCoy who served as a lawyer, district attorney, county judge and mayor of Sparta.
