Special awards are handed out to Minneapolis firefighters who stepped up in the line of duty.
Captain Jonathan Klepp and firefighter Sean Thomas both received the distinguished service medal for rescuing two people out of a burning home on Bryant Avenue South in September of 2011.
Other awards were given out Friday including the Chief's Award for merit to a group of Public Works employees who alerted a family that a home was on fire.
