INTERVIEW: Roundy's Gives Back
For more than 100 years, Roundy’s and its family of supermarkets have been providing food to Minnesotans and it is celebrating its 140th Anniversary by giving back to make sure that all families are able to put food on the table.
KSTP talked to Vivian King, director of public affairs for Roundy’s, about where they’ve come from to get to the 140th Anniversary.
This economy probably tells the story more than anything, and so many families are struggling to put food on the table, King said.
The pantries Roundy’s works with are saying they are seeing double and triple the demand for the food they give to families, and Roundy’s wants to be a part of the solution.
Today, Roundy’s representatives will be at their West St. Paul store and lagoon store to help 10 food shelves.
Roundy’s is going to give $4,500 to each food pantry, making it $45,000 just today. Not only will they get a pallet of food, they will also get $500 so they can purchase perishables.
