EmailMower County Fairgrounds Grandstand to be Demolished
A decades-old grandstand at the Mower County Fairgrounds will soon be demolished. but the county board must still decide how.
The Austin Fire Chief says he wants to burn the grandstand structure and use it a training exercise for area firefighters. Doing that would be cheaper than using traditional demolition equipment.
But first, crews would have to see if there are any hazardous materials in the stands, such as asbestos.. or lead paint.
Mower County Officials brought in temporary bleachers this summer after finding major structural problems with the grandstand.
