Closures Along Hiawatha Avenue for Construction

A traffic trouble spot is going to get worse before it gets better.

On Wednesday crews will start installing high voltage lines in the Hiawatha area.

There will be some closures near 28th Street, and Friday night Hiawatha Avenue will close between 26th Street and Lake Street.

The City of Minneapolis expects the closure to stay in place until Monday, Oct. 22.

The closure will temporarily slow down traffic in an already congested area.

The high voltage lines will ease traffic by monitoring who's been waiting the longest at traffic lights disrupted by light rail trains.
