U of M Researchers Work to Create Drought-Resistant Turf Grass

Researchers at the University of Minnesota are working on creating a drought-resistant turf grass.
The sustainable, wear-resistant grass would be used in both home lawns and public green spaces.
The project is being conducted over a five-year period and is funded by a $2.1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. If successful, the turf would require less water, fertilizer, pesticides, and mowing than regular grass.
The U of M team is joined by scientists from Rutgers University and the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
