This year’s Halloween is expected to give retailers a big boost.
The National Retail Federation expects a record 170 million people to celebrate. The NRF also predicts that consumers will spend an average of about $80 for the holiday and part of that chunk of change is for costumes.
This week you’ll have a chance to throw out your kid’s old costume, pick up a new one and save some money.
KSTP talked to Michelle Elliott, of Macaroni Kid, about National Costume Swap Day.
On National Costume Swap Day, people can drop off a costume at one of the four drop-off locations and get a ticket. At the event, people trade in the ticket for a costume and get a new one.
Even if your costume isn’t worth as much as the one you pick up, it doesn’t matter. As long as the costume is usable, it doesn’t matter the cost to trade, Elliott said.
The next swap day will take place from 1-3:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Anoka Middle School.
