INTERVIEW: Marathon Preview
Almost 30,000 people are taking part in the 31st Annual Twin Cities Marathon and all the events that go with it tomorrow.
KSTP got to talk to Virginia Brophy-Achmann, executive director of Twin Cities in Motion, about the fun that kicks off this weekend.
People don’t have to be running to take part in the events.
On Sunday, people can cheer on all the marathon ten-mile runners or they can come on Saturday and run the 10K, 5K, Toddler Trot or the Diaper Dash.
They have record sales in all events this year. On Saturday, they are up to 6,800 participants.
There are over 9,100 participants in the 10K and over 12,000 in the marathon event, Brophy-Achmann said.
The best spots along the running path for spectators are along any of the lakes, along the river and when people leave the river to run up the hill.
