2 Men Arrested for Allegedly Burglarizing Deceased Man's Home

Two men were arrested after they allegedly burglarized the home of a Ramsey man who had recently died.

Ramsey police officers were called to a home on the 14000 block of Argon Street Northwest around 1:46 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, after a neighbor reported suspicious activity.

The neighbor told police a U-Haul moving van had pulled into the driveway and there were lights on inside the house, even though the homeowner had died the week before.

Officers arrived and saw two men inside the home. They say one man was digging through a dresser and jewelry boxes and handing objects to the other man.

Police confronted the men, who were identified as 42-year-old Jeffrey Lancman of St. Paul and 24-year-old John Manuel Contreras of St. Paul. Both men allegedly ran but were caught and arrested.

Lancman and Contreras have each been charged with second degree burglary. If convicted, they each face up to 10 years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.
