Isanti Police say what appeared to have started as a road rage incident, ended with a shooting outside the police department Saturday afternoon.
Police received a call that a fight was happening in the east parking lot of the department, located at 401 First Ave NW. As officers walked out of the door to investigate what happened, they heard a gunshot.
Police say they found a man in the parking lot who had been shot in the face, he was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. He was conscious at the time of transport.
The investigation so far has led police to believe that the confrontation started with some type of road rage incident on HWY 65.
A suspect in the shooting was taken into custody, and booked into the Isanti County Jail, waiting formal charges.
