INTERVIEW: Adult Immunizations
It’s never too late to make sure your vaccines are current, even if you are an adult, immunizing yourself can keep others healthy.
KSTP talked to John Barsanti, of Entira Family Clinics, about what vaccines adults should consider this year.
Barsanti said there are a couple reasons to get vaccines: to protect yourself, your family and the community.
If you get a shot to prevent Shingles, you lower the risk of re-activating the chicken pox virus. If they occur, the pain can last for months and even years, Barsanti said.
Tetanus is another vaccine you should get every ten years. However, a change with the vaccine this year is that it has the whooping cough booster within it.
Barsanti recommended the Tetanus shot for adults 65 years old and older if they have contact with small children.
