An injured Iraq war veteran received the Purple Heart Thursday morning.
Sergeant Eric Phinney suffered a traumatic brain injury while serving with the Minnesota National Guard in 2007.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar presented him with the Purple Heart at the Minnesota Veterans Memorial in St. Paul.
When he was injured, Phinney's injury did not qualify for a Purple Heart, but the Pentagon changed its stance last year.
