Larry Pfarr: Protect Your Plants from Frost
KSTP Home & Garden Expert Larry Pfarr says with frost in the forecast, it's important not to forget about plants and vegetables in your garden.
Larry says you should harvest your vegetables. If you have tomatoes that are partially green or orange- they will ripen on your counter.
He says to bring house plants inside now, but don't forget to spray them with an insecticide.
As for covering plants, Larry says you should start out by putting stakes in the ground to make a tent. This will trap as much heat as possible. He says to use fabric because plastic will not insulate the plants.
You'll need to put the sheet up early in the evening, and grab a brick or stone to weigh it down.
You should keep your plants covered into morning, until the danger of frost has passed.
