WEEKEND WRAP: Italians, Hobos and Farmers

KSTP’s Rusty Gatenby talked to Bradley Traynor from myTalk 107.1 about activities in the Twin Cities this weekend that have to do with Italians, hobos and farmers.

Start your weekend off by heading over to the Festa Italiana event, Friday, Sept. 21, at Harriet Island, in St. Paul.

They will have Gondola rides on the water, Italian music, local Italian food and even a special Catholic mass too.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, people can head over to Rail Rider Days at the Jackson Street Roundhouse in St. Paul for a bunch of old trains and memorabilia.

Here, families can find out what it was like to be a hobo who rode the rails throughout the United States.

The trains remain in St. Paul all year, but the event comes annually. This year, they’re going to have a hobo queen, hobo king and other hobo royalty this year.

If you are looking to get good food from local restaurants you can head over to Farm in the Cities on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Solera Restaurant & Event Center in Minneapolis.

Farmers who provide food for some of the restaurants in the Twin Cities come together at Solera for the event to prepare a seven-course meal.

The proceeds benefit the youth farm and market project, which helps young people through farming learn all sorts of life skills, Traynor said.
