Study Finds Link Between Childhood Neglect, Adult Strokes

A new study is making a connection between kids who are neglected and strokes they have as adults.
Mayo Clinic researchers asked people about any physical or emotional abuse they had before age 18. Those who reported a moderately high level of childhood emotional neglect had a three times higher risk of stroke than those who were not neglected.
Researchers say the study adds to the increasing evidence that links traumatic childhood experiences to physical illness in adulthood.
The study is in the journal Neurology.
