COLUMN: Aaron's Backstage Pass: Fright Fest Review
With Halloween coming next month, I have the perfect movie collection to keep you awake at nights. I just received a twelve movie set from Mill Creek Entertainment to review called “Fright Fest.”
I really enjoyed “Fright Fest” a lot. The movies were fun to watch and it contained over seventeen hours of pure horror entertainment.
The case contains three double sided DVD’s and they have two movies on each side. When the movie loads and you get to the menu screen, you can choose one of the two movies to watch. You can play the whole movie or you can go to certain chapters of the film.
I have only seen two of the movies before, but the other ten were ones that I had not seen and had always wanted to watch. I really like the selection of movies in this set and think that the person that put together “Fright Fest” did an amazing job.
The movies that are featured in this horror collection are:
- “Devil In The Flesh”
- “Devil In The Flesh 2”
- “Jack Frost 2”
- “The Killing Grounds”
- “Diary of a Serial Killer”
- “Naina”
- “Evil Behind You”
- “Night Feeders”
- “The Fear”
- “The Other Side”
- “Ice Cream Man”
- “Within The Rock"
I would have to say that all of these movies were very entertaining, creepy and will keep you on the edge of your seat.
However the one that I would have to say is very weird and I still don’t know what to think of it would have to be “Jack Frost 2” I don’t want to give anything away, but it’s about a killer snowman and it is so out there.
There are also some well-known actors that star in some of the movies in “Fright Fest”, such as Anthony Michael Hall, Rose McGowan, Gary Busey, Clint Howard, and Priscilla Barnes.
They all have done a lot of films and television shows and it was fun to see them again in these movies. The one actor that just stuck out for me was Clint Howard. He is just creepy in “Ice Cream Man” and I think that makes the movie very frightening.
I was really surprised to see Courtney Gains and John Franklin in the movie “The Killing Grounds.” A lot of people may not know who they are, but if you are a fan of Stephen King’s “Children of the Corn,” then you know them as Issac and Malachai. That was great to see the two of them again in a film.
The one thing that was disappointing with this set was that there were not any bonus features or trailers. It would have been nice to see the trailer for some of these movies.
I really liked “Fright Fest” and I know that I will be watching these movies again. If you want a great horror movie collection to watch, I would highly recommend this one. This will keep you entertained and frightened for hours.
