UST Mourns the Death of Monsignor James Lavin

The University of St. Thomas is mourning the loss of one of its greatest icons.
Monsignor James Lavin died Monday morning at his home in downtown St. Paul at the age of 93.
Lavin served the St. Thomas community for more than 75 years. He's famous for handing out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to students, also known as 'Lavin burgers.'
Restaurants on campus also bear his nickname 'Scooter.'
The school says Lavin's funeral will likely be held later this week.
