Authorities Investigate Death of Man in Crow Wing Co.
Authorities in Crow Wing County are investigating the death of a 43-year-old man in Deerwood Township.
Crosby police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in a wooded area near County Road 31 just before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office says. When officers and sheriff's deputies arrived, they found the vehicle and the body of a man, identified as Garry Allen Wanless, Jr.
Sheriff Todd Dahl says there is no indication of danger to the public and people should not be concerned for their safety. Due to unusual circumstances at the scene, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was asked to assist with the investigation, he says.
Authorities did not provide a possible cause of death or elaborate on the "unusual circumstances" at the scene.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
