Homelessness Prevalent Among Area Students

Homeless students across the metro will be taking a bus to school from local shelters this year.

Anoka-Hennepin had more than 500 homeless students attending schools last year, which was up from 220 the year before. Champlin Park High School has the highest number of homeless students in the district, according to a statement from Anoka-Hennepin.

To help struggling students, five traditional high schools, one alternative high school, and three middle schools have food shelves in Anoka-Hennepin.

Anoka-Hennepin is the largest school district in the state.
