U of M Bus System Uses Route-Predicting Technology

Those who take advantage of the University of Minnesota bus system now have a new way to learn when their bus will arrive.
New route-predicting technology has been installed on 24 vehicles of the U of M Twin Cities campus bus system. Beginning this fall, riders can find out where the buses are through their computers and mobile devices. Some bus stops will also have electronic signs that tell when the next three buses will arrive.
A real-time tracking map showing each bus is at umn.edu/pts. Riders can also call 763-567-2453 or text 41411 with umnbus and the stop number to get updates.
According to the university, more than 3.7 million riders use the bus system.
