Woman Turned Away from Doctor's Office Because of Weight

A story out of New England is sparking a lot of controversy.
Ida Davidson said she was looking for a primary care physician but was turned away because of her size.
“She was telling me that she couldn't care for me because I was over 200 pounds,” Davidson said. “I've never heard of anything like that; I thought doctors were there to help you.”
The doctor says her office has a new policy; it doesn’t take obese patients because staff has been injured working with overweight people.
The doctor appears to be within her rights – both patients and physicians can choose whether to enter a patient-physician relationship.
Many people are saying that just because it’s legal doesn’t make it right.
