A Walworth County sheriff's deputy shot and wounded an alleged bank robber after a chase through two counties.
According to the sheriff's department, dispatchers received a report of an armed robbery at the People's Bank North in the Town of Sugar Creek at about 2:10 p.m. Friday. He fled and a few minutes later a Wisconsin State Trooper tried to stop the vehicle believed to be involved.
The vehicle drove off, reaching speeds of more than 80 miles per hour through Walworth and Waukesha counties.
At one point when the Walworth County deputy kneeled down to put down stop sticks in an attempt to puncture the suspect's tires, the suspect allegedly drove at him.
The sheriff's department says the deputy fired a shot at the vehicle, wounding the suspect.
