State Dept. of Health Pushes for E-Prescriptions

The State Department of Health is pushing for more prescriptions to go electronic, but some pharmacists are pushing back.
State health officials say e-prescriptions are more efficient and safer because they cut the risk of forgery or misreading messy handwriting. But some pharmacists say it’s unfair to make the switch because they are paying the price.
About 70 percent of Minnesota’s health care providers are already e-prescribing. By next year, the health department hopes all will be.
