Lino Lakes Police: 63 Grams of Marijuana Found in Vehicle

A Blaine man is facing drug possession charges after Lino Lakes Police say they found 63 grams of marijuana in his vehicle.
According to the criminal complaint, an officer stopped 28-year-old Joshua Dwayne Ellis of Blaine around 8:41 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, because the car didn’t have a rear view mirror.
The officer said he smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle. He found a box containing 63 grams of marijuana, according to the complaint. The driver admitted that he got the pot as a favor for a friend.
Ellis has been charged with one count of fifth degree controlled substance crime and one count of possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. If convicted, Ellis faces up to 10 years and $20,000 in fines on the controlled substance charge and up to 90 days and $1,000 in fines on the motor vehicle charge.
Ellis was previously convicted of a fifth degree controlled substance crime on Dec. 30, 2010.
