Fridley Police Dept. Mourns Death of Officer

The Fridley Police Department’s administrative offices are closed Saturday as staff members mourn the loss of an officer.

Officer Barry Gustav Pankonin was killed in an off-duty motorcycle accident Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Staff members will be attending Pankonin’s funeral Saturday. Emergency calls during the closure will be handled by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, and residents should still dial 911 during an emergency.
