EmailMan Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Columbia Heights Woman
A Minneapolis man has been charged with second degree assault after allegedly attacking a Columbia Heights woman with a knife.
Police were called to the 4600 block of Tyler Street around 12:36 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21. When they arrived, officers saw 28-year-old Darrell Alan Jones of Minneapolis running out of the apartment holding a white knife with blood on it.
The victim said she had an argument with Jones and that he began to stab her. Officers saw a cut on her thumb, scratches on her forearm, and a stab wound on her right side.
Jones admitted to using the knife on the woman and said he was acting in self defense.
The victim and suspect have a child in common.
Jones has been charged with second degree assault. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison and up to $14,000 in fines.
