Georgia-Pacific Closing Duluth Hardboard Plant

Georgia-Pacific says it will permanently close its plant in Duluth at the end of the month.
One-hundred-40 employees were notified of the decision Tuesday and will be paid for 60 days. The plant manufactures a hardboard product called Superwood that's used in the auto industry. Georgia-Pacific is shifting production to other facilities.
Company spokesman Eric Abercrombie says some equipment at the plant will be reallocated and some assets will be sold.
WDIO-TV reports the final day of operation will be Aug. 30.
