EmailKids and Families Fun Fest Supports Families of Fallen Officers
One thing that brings communities together is honoring those who serve and protect us.
The Kids and Families Fun Fest yesterday raised money for the parents, spouses, and children fallen officers leave behind. The donations pay for memorials and for camps for kids who have lost moms and dads in the line of duty.
Bonnie Silvera lost her son, Lino Lakes Police Officer Shawn Silvera, six years ago during a police pursuit on I-35W. For her, yesterday was about healing.
"We are here as a family to help survivors that are coming after us,” she said.
In Minnesota’s history, 227 officers have died on duty.
