New Airline Radar Could Cut Down on Turbulence

New technology will help make your airplane ride a little smoother.
A new radar helps pilots spot lightning, hail, and other things that cause turbulence from more than 60 miles away. Southwest Airlines already has it in 19 planes, and the radar will soon be installed in fleets of other commercial jets.
Turbulence causes a dozen serious injuries and $18 billion in damage and delays every year.
