Whooping Cough Cases on Rise in Isanti County

The number of whooping cough cases is on the rise in Isanti county.
The board of health reports 21 cases since May. All of the patients and their families are being treated. No one had to be hospitalized.

The state health department says there have been more than 2,000 cases so far this year.
As of Aug. 2, Hennepin County had the most cases - 556; Anoka County - 291; Dakota County - 133.
The health department says vaccines are the best way to prevent whooping cough.
Some other things you can do include washing your hands, covering your mouth when you cough, staying home if you're sick and avoiding contact with others who cough.
