Police: Road Rage Incident Leads to 2nd Degree Assault Charge

An apparent road rage incident led to an arrest after a suspect pulled a gun on two victims.

The Waite Park Police Department responded to the incident around 5:24 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, near Second Street and Waite Avenue South.

According to the police report, a man and woman were in their vehicle waiting to make a turn when another vehicle pulled up next to them. The victims made a comment about the suspect’s “nice car,” and the suspect allegedly responded by spitting on the woman through an open window.

The suspect then pointed a handgun with a laser sight in the face of the woman, according to the police report.

The suspect vehicle was stopped by police on 54th Avenue in St. Cloud. The man, who was identified as 28-year-old Brent Philippi of Waite Park, was arrested and charged with second degree assault and terroristic threats.

No one was injured.
