23K Ticketed in Statewide Speed Enforcement Last Month

In July, more than 23,000 drivers were pulled over for speeding on Minnesota roads.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says, according to preliminary reports from 273 law enforcement agencies, 23,285 drivers were pulled over and ticketed for driving at "illegal and unsafe speeds" during the campaign.

During the month-long crackdown, the State Patrol ticketed 23 people for driving more than 100 miles per hour.

"This effort was conducted to encourage motorists to drive safe speeds with the focus of preventing serious and fatal crashes," says Donna Berger, director of the DPS Office of Traffic Safety.

In a similar statewide campaign last July, 19,908 drivers were ticketed for speeding.
