Police Raid, Shut Down Illegal Gambling Operation in St. Cloud

Police say they raided a St. Cloud business and shut down an illegal gambling operation.
Police reportedly served a search warrant at Triple Crown Sweepstakes in St. Cloud and confiscated gambling devices that were similar to video slot machines.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division and the St. Cloud Police Department have been investigating Triple Crown Sweepstakes, also known as Minnesota Sweeps.
The division reportedly contacted the business before they opened and warned that the slot machine-type games were illegal. The business said they were raising money for a charitable organization, and the department said the plan wasn’t in compliance with the law.
According to the Minnesota Department of Safety, Triple Crown Sweepstakes approached other bars in St. Cloud claiming their products are authorized because of the recent stadium legislation, but the department says that is not the case.
