Accused CEO of City Owned Hospitals Fired

The chief executive of a city-owned Redwood Falls hospital has been fired after he was accused of double-dipping on travel expenses.

The Redwood Falls City Council in a unanimous voted Tuesday evening agreed to terminate Redwood Area Hospital CEO Jim Schulte. He was charged this week with two gross misdemeanors.

A criminal complaint accuses Schulte of being reimbursed about $1,000 by a medical imaging equipment company for travel from August 2010 through November 2011.

Schulte is a director for the company, Central Minnesota Diagnostic Inc. The complaint says Schulte also filed for reimbursement from the city for the same trips, and the city paid.

KLGR reports about 20 people attended the meeting in support of Schulte. He did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
