Police: Man Stabbed after Intervening in Argument

An Isanti man is facing second degree assault charges for allegedly stabbing a man who intervened during a fight.
The Anoka Police Department was called to Mercy Hospital around 11:09 p.m. Saturday, July 14, regarding a patient who had been stabbed.
The victim told police he was at a bar in Anoka with his friends to celebrate his birthday, and they left the bar so one of the girls in their group could meet up with her boyfriend at the dam in Anoka.
While at the dam, the girl started arguing with her boyfriend, according to the criminal complaint. The boyfriend was identified as 20-year-old Cody William Johnson of Isanti.
The victim told police he went up to the couple to make sure everything was ok, and he said he was hit by Johnson in the upper right area of his stomach. As he looked closer, the victim realized he had been stabbed.
The victim was brought to the hospital by his friends and was sent into emergency surgery.
If convicted, Johnson faces up to 10 years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.
