Burnsville Police Issue Crime Alert After Three Home Burglaries
The Burnsville Police Department has issued a crime alert after three burglaries in the last month in the northeast part of the city.
In each case, police say people were in the house sleeping at the time. They say the burglar entered through an unlocked patio door and took items like flat screen TVs, laptop computers, iPods, jewelry and wallets. Police believe the burglaries took place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Police are reminding homeowners to keep all doors and windows locked, especially on the ground floor or ones that are easily accessible. They also say simple precautions like making sure your garage door is closed, closing blinds and drapes and not leaving garage door openers in cars that are left outside can help prevent you from becoming a victim.
If you see any suspicious activity, police encourage you to call 911.
