2 Houses Catch Fire as Storms Roll Through Metro Area

It appears stormy weather is to blame for two house fires overnight.

St. Paul

Firefighters were called to the 1600 block of Reaney Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

Fire officials say the storm knocked a branch onto a power line, which made contact with the house and then started the fire.

Everyone made it out of the home safely. They stayed in a hotel overnight.

Firefighters were on scene for more than four hours. They had to wait for the power to be shut off before they could go inside the house.

The attic of the home was damaged by the fire, officials say.

Shoreview

Firefighters spent nearly two hours knocking down a fire at a house on the 600 block of Lake Pine Drive.

Authorities believe lightning sparked the fire, but they are still investigating.

There was a small fire on the outside of the house, officials say. No one was hurt.
